Community

Origin strives to make a positive contribution in every community where we work.

With Yanco Delta, our aim is to build a framework of shared benefits – from financial contribution through access rights fees and reaching voluntary planning agreements with local councils; to establishing partnerships with strategic stakeholder and First Nations groups, supporting local groups and sponsoring activities and events through community investment; and developing a neighborhood benefit program aligned to local needs.

We recognise that this can only be achieved through meaningful engagement, where stakeholders and the community partners are genuine partners in the process to co-create and implement economic and social investment outcomes.

Shared benefits framework

Regulatory

Origin has entered Voluntary Planning Agreements (VPAs) with the Murrumbidgee and Edward River Councils as part of the project’s planning and approvals process. Each agreement includes a $5 million contribution to support local infrastructure projects, including the construction of a new Jerilderie medical centre in Murrumbidgee Shire. We look forward to working closely with both councils and the community to deliver these important commitments. This is in addition to financial benefits that will flow from the future payment of access rights fees.

Strategic Partnerships

Strategic partnerships are established to create long-lasting, sustainable improvements that address systemic issues and drive positive change for future generations. Preliminary engagement has commenced on potential partnership opportunities with stakeholders including industry and business groups and universities that have interests across the broader project area.

First Nations

First Nations led investment recognizes the unique challenges and opportunities within their communities, developing tailored projects in partnership to celebrate their culture, strengthen their identity, and overall well-being.

Engagement has commenced with First Nations stakeholders with the intention to form strategic partnerships in the areas of local workforce participation and procurement; increased economic and community benefits commitments; informed cultural heritage management systems and process; and ongoing consultation throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Community Investment

Origin is proud to support local community groups and events through sponsorship and participation, such as hosting the Diamond for a Day clinic, sponsoring the Jerilderie Gold Cup, Jerilderie Working Dog Auction and Jerilderie Fun Fair.

An ongoing Community Investment Program is currently being developed which will include a community survey to be delivered in partnership with Voconiq Local Voices to best understand the needs of all communities within the project area.

Neighbourhood Benefits

Neighborhood benefits go beyond community investment and may include offers or assistance provided through a variety of Origin’s products and services. A Neighborhood Benefits program specific to the Yanco Delta project area is currently being developed.
