Local Activity

Yanco Creek Aboriginal heritage test excavations (October 2025)

What’s happening:

On behalf of Origin, Jacobs with the support of Registered Aboriginal Parties are undertaking Aboriginal heritage test excavations at Yanco Creek, north of Jerilderie. The works comprise hand excavation of shallow test pits and sieving of soil to identify the presence of Aboriginal artifacts.

Why we’re doing this:

The test excavations will provide an understanding of sub-surface Aboriginal archaeological values as part of the impact assessment of the Yanco Delta Wind Farm Project.

The information obtained will be reported on in, and support the assessment of, a planned modification application and help with the development of mitigation and management measures to minimise impacts to Aboriginal heritage values.

When and where works are taking place:

The works will take place west of the Yanco Creek crossing on Wilson Road, north of Jerilderie during October 2025.

How will the public be impacted:

We don’t expect there to be any impacts to members of the public during this period of work.

Geotechnical Investigations (September – October 2025)

What’s happening:

We are carrying out geotechnical investigations across the project site using truck or track mounted drilling rigs and other equipment to collect soil and rock samples from varying soil depths.

Why we’re doing this:

The information gathered helps our engineers understand ground conditions, which is essential for safe and effective design and construction of the project.

When and where works are taking place:

Works will occur through several teams from the start of September for a period of 5 weeks. Works will occur on private land, with the exception of a small area on the corner of Kidman Way and Liddles Lane, and Kidman Way and Jerrys Lane. There may be speed reduction traffic management in place during this time.

How will the public be impacted:

We don’t expect there to be any impacts to members of the public during this period of work.
