Business NSW partnership to prepare local businesses for local opportunities
Business NSW Riverina Murray and Origin Energy have launched a new regional partnership to help local businesses prepare for opportunities linked to the Yanco Delta Wind Farm project.
Announced in Deniliquin, the Supporting You in Business program brings together Origin, Business NSW Riverina Murray and regional leaders to deliver practical support that builds business capability ahead of major clean energy investment in the region.
The Yanco Delta Wind Farm, located near Jerilderie, is a project of significance for both Origin and the Riverina Murray, with the potential to support up to 895 construction jobs, 30 ongoing operational roles, and a range of local contracting and procurement opportunities across the supply chain.
Origin CEO Frank Calabria said the partnership recognises that while large infrastructure projects create strong economic potential, early preparation is critical to ensuring those benefits can be captured locally.
“This program is about investing early so local businesses are ready to participate, compete and benefit,” Mr Calabria said. “By working alongside Business NSW and regional communities, we can help ensure the benefits of the energy transition are shared locally.”
Delivered over an initial 12‑month period, the partnership will provide events, workshops and tailored resources designed to strengthen business capability, support workforce development and encourage participation in the emerging renewables sector. The initiative will also support businesses across traditional industries such as agriculture and tourism, reflecting the importance of co‑existence to the region’s long‑term prosperity.
The partnership complements Origin’s broader local investment program and commitment to ensuring tangible benefits flow to communities closest to the project, those around Jerilderie and in the Murrumbidgee and Edward River Council areas.
Business NSW Riverina Murray will play a central role in delivering the program, drawing on its local networks and deep understanding of regional business needs.
Both organisations say the partnership represents an early step in creating a lasting legacy from the Yanco Delta Wind Farm — one defined by strong local businesses, skilled workforce and communities positioned for the future.
